This is especially true for someone like myself who is a major fan of all things Disney. I enjoy looking back at Disney history, as well as the wider ramifications this has had on society. The Museum Based Attraction That Disney Made - Mystic Manor

As a lover of history, museum’s, Disney and a great story I was blown away by the attention to detail involved in the “Mystic Manor” and “Mystic Point” attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Walt Disney was a great storyteller and the ability of Imagineers (those behind the Disney magic today) to translate this into a great visitor experience is inspirational. In the case of Mystic Manor and Mystic Point, though it is a story of make believe it is easy to get swept up in the tale – just as you would a great movie or book.

Happy 90th Birthday Donald Duck!

Ninety years ago, 9 June 1934, is celebrated as the date that Donald Duck made his debut when he appeared in the cartoon “The Wise Little Hen” as part of Disney’s Silly Symphonies series.

Though this date is celebrated as Donald’s birthday the cartoon actually debuted a month earlier on 3 May 1934 when it was played at the Cathay Circle in Los Angeles as part of a benefit event.

1992: Thirty Years Ago in the Disney Universe

The year 1992 was a VERY busy year for Disney! From Beauty & the Beast taking home many awards at the start of the year to Aladdin being the top grossing film of the year, there was a lot happening for Disney!

Who was Alexander Hamilton?

I’ve put this blog together because the most common questions I’ve been asked when people see I’ve been to Hamilton is firstly who is Hamilton and secondly why would we, as Australian’s, be interested in such an American story?

“Hamilton: An American Musical” is the official name of this Broadway show but most people just know it as “Hamilton“ and for the Australian production the tag-line has been lost.

2013: Disney Movies

Disney conquered the movie charts in 2013 with four of the ten top grossing films coming from the Disney studio. These were Frozen in number one, Iron Man 3 at number two, Monsters University finished in seventh spot with Thor: The Dark World rounding out the top ten in 10th position.

1992: Beauty & the Beast is a Winner!

To get the year off to a winning start Beauty and the Beast won Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Original Score (Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy) AND Best Original Song for “Beauty and the Beast” at the Golden Globes on 18 January.

Following on from these three gongs, two months later, on 30 March, the film became the first animated movie to be nominated in the Best Picture category at the Oscars. While it didn’t win this award the film did take home Best Original Score and Best Original Song, once again for “Beauty and the Beast”.
